Blogging Friends ....and I Lost One .......

I think I just figured out something. Today on the blog, I used a text gadget and I wrote about keep Christ in Christmas, and within the hour ,I lost a follower.I only  had 35.Not I am at 34, and  sniff, sniff ....I guess I'll never know, because I didn't get a message from the blogger.Of course, I could be wrong. Could be that I lead a boring life.. and bored them to tears..ha!

I have been getting a lot of emails about keeping the word Christ in Christmas.I'm on board with that. So I added a text gadget to express that. It was just less than an hour and like the Hee Haw song says,"poof..... they were gone".Of course I am a big Santa/jingle bell/deck the halls gal, too! Do any of you lose followers without even a message to you? It makes me sad to lose a follower before I get a chance to be a friend.

Speaking of friends, I have met some awesome blogger buddies! You ladies in MS,TX,MS,and AR are close enough that maybe I will meet you some day. You  can find lasting and great friendships on the internet via forums and blogs! One of my dearest friends lives in Australia. We met on a teacher forum years ago .(Mary Ellen..love you!) She is my daughter's age, and I love her youthful perspective on everything. Another good teacher forum friend I met is Cathy-Dee. She is a Canadian and sends gorgeous pictures of snow to me,along with pictures of her neice and nephew (Whom I have watched grow up in pictures.) I'm glad she does. I am genuinely interested in her family! I have never met either of them physically, but I still count them as good friends. These two ladies helped me stay sane and focused on God when I went through a horrific experience  that rocked my world eight years ago.I owe them a lot!

I am a fairly new blogger, and I have already met people that have laughed with me, cheered me on with my new blogger chatter, and when the chips were down they have prayed for me. Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout!
What about you? Have you made great friendships by blogging?

  1. Hi Jackie, I don't pay much attention to my followers.. They come and they go.. Many of them never ever comment on my blog--so I don't know if they read them or not. What I love is the commenters. Those are the ones "I" follow... SO--don't worry about losing one.. It could be someone who never read your blog anyhow...

I have been blogging since 2006 --but have been on Blogger since 2009. I LOVE blogging and have many really special friends --many of which I have met in person. You'll soon know the ones you have the most in common with --and they will become your good friends...

It is sad to say that some bloggers whom I thought I was good friends with, decide for one reason or another, just to give up blogging --and they never contact you again. Guess they weren't such good friends afterall. You'll learn who to follow and who not to...

I do love it though... Hope you do too.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  2. Thanks betsy. So you have met some bloggers. that sounds great! When I taught school , I was always meeting new people. They would move, and I'd lose track of them. i got used to it. So I'll take your advice!

  3. Hey, Jackie, I know just what you're talking about. Now first off, I'm really lucky to have a great group, but many of us have been linked since the Spaces (WLS) days, and since then I've met a bunch of great folks, you being one of them of course. But it's funny that you brought up the subject because only this week, out of the clear blue, one dropped off and when I clicked on her blog it now says "you haven't been invited to see this blog". Holy cow, I was floored. We had always gotten along really well, so I don't get it at all. I went to her profile by way of another mutual friend and sent an email through google asking her if I'd done something wrong. It's been 4 days since and I've heard not a word. Guess I won't now. So who knows, and even though it hurt me a bit, I can't lose sleep over it. If it happened with me for no reason, then it will happen with others. Anyway, I agree with Betsy's take on it. We'll plod on no matter what. (and some are only interested in racking up readers for the numbers--I don't get that at all. What's the point? Is there a prize for that?)
    Lol, cya soon XOXOXO

  4. I have been blogging for over 5 years now. Many of my friends have been with me from the very beginning. I have met 2 of them in person and talked on the telephone with several of them. One of them calls me twin and I call her twin because we share the same birthday. We talk on the phone frequently.
As for losing followers, yes, I have lost a couple of them without a goodbye.

  5. I am happy to hear you have some great buddies on the internet that you trust and become family like. I have some myself too. I lost ah few when I came here from live spaces. It's hard for me to keep up and I fear chatting online and the video thing. I think I am afraid they won't like me no more? I do lack confidence I guess. The weather map looks like you are in some nasty weather...if that's where you are lol. Sometimes people cull their followers, the ones who don't comment you see I guess. I hope to get to know you more. Have a great weekend and hope the weather behaves.

  6. I have 'met' many lovely people through blogging. It's like having penpals all over the world, only better, because you can see where they live.

    Hugs,

  7. ~~~~~JennyD~~~So it does happen as just part of the blogging adventure. I just think it might have been about the Christ in Christmas.but at any rate, I guess I'll just say"Que sara, sara" Whatever will be will be.
I'm like you, I'm not about racking in the numbers. I just find it fun to read about crafty things, words of wisdom, and other perspectives from the "real world" ....real people who like connecting because we find our fellow travelers in this world an interesting lot. I do use google adds, but that's for the surfers that are just passing through, not blogging buddies. Thanks,JennyD!

  13. Hi Jackie and so rude that someone would just fall off the face of the earth without even a goodbye. DO NOT Take it Personally as this happens at times for no apparent reason. I agree with one of your blogger buds that some people are only in this for hits to make money. Some of us are also genuine about making friends here. Here is a big HUG for you and know that they are just missing out on a great person. :)

  14. Hi Jackie, and thank you for visiting my blog, I have just become one of your followers now too, I will list you as one of my faves. Yes I have them leave all the time, no clue why. Without any post as to why, I am not sure how you can even leave once you have joined, but that is me, yes I did teach at one time, I am retired, as far as the work force, but I am still teaching, I teach the children in our church. I love your blog and I do love so many bloggers, and have met some wonderful folks in this blogging world.
Here are lots of hugs back for you too, Barbara♥

  15. I have followers come and go all the time. I've found that when I post political and religious blogs that are perceived by some to be unloving or intolerant, I will invariably lose a few sensitive followers. And yes, I have made some friends from blogging :-)

  16. Dear Jackie, My name is Kerrie - I have been so inspired by your comments on Beth's blogspot, so I wanted to pop in and say hello. You have such an amazing strength and your smiles is contagious! Simply beautiful! Through blogging I have made the most amazing friends!!! I am so blessed. Some do come and go for whatever reason, but I believe we can make a difference, even to those who visit may have been brief. I have added myself to follow you, and if you would like to pop over sometime and visit that'd be great! May you have a bright sunny day filled with God's blessings. With love and care from Kerrie. xOx
